Description

Biopsy specimen of a patient with bacillary angiomatosis and advanced HIV disease. There is a proliferation of plump vessels in an edematous stroma with significant numbers of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. The granular basophilic material adjacent to the vessels in the center represents aggregates of the bacilli (hematoxylin and eosin stain X400).
